Our philosophy for achieving successful design is simple;

We build a strong relationship from day one with our clients, building trust and confidence that allows you to feel comfortable expressing the requirements of your project, and allows us to communicate the design effectively. We then maintain a healthy relationship throughout the project to help delivery at every stage.

The process of designing and building your project can be extremely daunting so we take away the stress with our knowledge and experience to make the process as enjoyable as possible.

We understand that this is often a once in a lifetime experience with great financial commitment, which is why it’s critical to us to ensure you’re able to feel at ease and confident that we will look after you.

The customer Journey

Each stage  is crucial to the project, the customer journey below outlines the process you can expect from Ashwood Designs:

Step one

Initial Enquiry

The initial enquiry, which is free usually involves us meeting at the studio for what is usually intense session where we appraise the site or project along with the budget to determine the optimum design and if your aspirations are feasible. You leave this meeting with all your questions or concerns answered and often a sketch of how the proposal will look.

Step two

Design

The brief for the design stage is determined during our initial enquiry and upon acceptance of our proposal of fees and services we proceed with the initial design and though meetings between us we develop the design up until completion. This stage is very interactive and rewarding as we arrive at the completed designs ready for the planning application.

Step three

Planning

The planning stage overlaps with the design and encompasses the production of all the information that may be required to accompany the planning application, this may include information such as bat & barn owl surveys, highways consideration or drainage design etc. We look after the co-ordination of all information produced by 3rd party consultants and deal with the planning application process on your behalf.

Step four

Technical Design

The technical design consists of us designing the building to the smallest detail including specifying and designing solutions to how the building is built. There is much less involvement in this stage for you but the quantity of information we produce is suitable for the builder to be able undertake construction. During this stage we shall submit the application for Building Regulations.

Step five

Tender

During the tender stage we specify the preliminaries of how, when, where the project will be built for example how long the builder may have to undertake the work and who he is reporting too. We shall also provide a document of the specification of finishes for the project to allow a consistent level of finish and associated price from the builder. We may also implement a building contract for the builder to adhere to, providing you with a level of certainty on price, programme and if the something untoward should happen.

Step six

Construction

When the project is under construction we provide a varying level of assistance depending on how much you're comfortable with undertaking yourself. If a formal contract is in place we shall act as Contract Administrator for the project providing regular meetings, valuations and recorded variations as necessary.
