Extension, Dumfriesshire

Our clients brief for this project was to create an extension that would be of a contemporary style but would sit comfortably with the existing 250 year old cottage and maximise its setting against a forested backdrop on the banks of the Water of Milk. The material selection was to reflect the natural and rural location.

The solution was to create an extension of similar proportions to the existing house, with a pitched slate roof but fully clad in natural untreated Cedar and with large window openings with dark grey frames maximising the setting. A large timber deck has been created looking out over the river.
